Eagle Point Crit

Yesterday was the Eagle Point Crit up in Dubuque. It was my first time doing this race, which is kind of a common theme for me this race season since I didn't do a whole lot of road races/ crits last year. Anyway, it was a very fun course, about a mile long with one really tight left turn followed by a quick uphill. I only wish more women had turned out. When all was said and done, only 4 women did this race, me and A.M. (my teammate), A.V. and K.S. We started off fast, A.V. gunned it, but that was nothing new. I expect nothing less from her. The 4 of us stayed together for about 4-5 laps at which time we lost K.S. Even though we still did another 8-9 hard laps we never caught her to lap her which just goes to show how strong she is this year too. I digress. During these first laps A.V. and I kept trading attacks. I initially thought I would shake her, but no matter what, she would always come back on me strong. So, A.M. went to work on her too and after a few laps of this back and forth game, we finally exhausted her, and I just rode away. After 8 laps on my own, I finished first and A.M. followed in second and A.V. shortly after that for third. As fun as it was to get to work with a teammate like that, I felt pretty bad doing something as mean as that to A.V. but of course she didn't mind and will be back out, putting the hurt on us early again next week.

It was really fun this weekend even with only 4 of us! I look forward to IC this weekend.

First blog...

Seems like everybody who's anybody blogs these days, so why not me too. Not that I think I am anybody, I'm just trying to fit in, a slave to peer pressure. Since I don't take myself too seriously, don't expect anything too serious. Just a few race write ups and random bitching about med school. Anyone who chooses to read it are here forewarned, I'm a rambler.
